Privacy Policy
Last updated: 5 September 2026
Notero is a notebook for students. This policy describes exactly what the app collects, why, and who else sees it. We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising.
What we collect
- Your email address, so you can have an account and sign in.
- Your content — notebooks, handwriting, documents you import, and anything you type. Imported documents and typed content are stored on our servers. Handwriting is stored locally on your device and may also be transmitted to our servers as part of notebook synchronisation.
- Questions you ask the tutor, together with the passages from your own documents used to answer them.
- An account identifier, used to establish that your data is yours and to keep it separate from everyone else's.
What we do not collect
No location, no contacts, no health or financial data, no browsing history, no advertising identifiers. We do not track you across other apps or websites, and we do not share anything with data brokers.
Who processes your data
We use a small number of providers, each for one job:
- Supabase (European Union) — accounts, documents, notes and file storage.
- Anthropic — receives your tutor question and the passages retrieved from your own material in order to produce an answer.
- OpenAI — converts your documents into the numerical form that makes search possible.
- Resend — sends account emails such as confirmation and password reset.
These providers act on our instructions. None of them are permitted to use your content to train their models.
How long we keep it
Your content stays until you delete it or delete your account. Deleting your account removes your notebooks, documents and uploaded files.
Deleting your account
In the app: Account → Delete account. This removes your account and the content attached to it. You can also email us and we will do it for you.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Write to the address below and we will respond within 30 days.
Children
Notero is built for university students and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from them.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that affects you, we will say so in the app before the change takes effect.
